France IDU / Citeo — what Amazon expects

France expects packaging producers to belong to an approved eco-organisation and to hold an Identifiant Unique (IDU). Amazon Seller Central then asks for that IDU under EPR / compliance fields. Without a valid match, French listings and Account Health take the hit.

What an IDU is

An IDU is France’s unique producer identifier for an EPR stream, issued via ADEME SYDEREP after you join an approved eco-organisation. For household packaging, sellers usually hear Citeo first; Léko and Adelphe are other approved options. The eco-organisation transmits membership; ADEME issues the IDU. Marketplaces verify against ADEME.

There is no single annual “get your first IDU” calendar date — issuance follows membership. Annual declarations to the eco-organisation are a separate cadence; confirm on the portal.

One packaging IDU is not a passport for every French EPR stream (WEEE, textiles, and others have their own identifiers when they apply). This page is packaging.

Where Seller Central asks

Paste the packaging IDU in Amazon.fr Seller Central EPR / compliance fields (labels move). Amazon verifies against ADEME. Packfiled does not submit the number. Legal-entity name in Seller Central should match the register character for character, or verification fails even when you “have a number.”

If you do not supply a valid IDU, platforms may block offers or apply Pay on Behalf style charges on orders.
