What a LUCID number is (and how Amazon asks for it)

LUCID is Germany’s public packaging register, run by the Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister (ZSVR). Under the packaging framework sellers still call VerpackG — and from 12 August 2026 the implementing act VerpackDG alongside PPWR — producers who first place household packaging on the German market register in LUCID and receive a number. Marketplaces verify against that register.

Registration happens before first placement. There is no single annual “first registration” calendar date. What does recur: the declaration of completeness (Vollständigkeitserklärung) — commonly due 15 May when you are above the published thresholds. A LUCID number is not dual-system participation. Financing collection and recovery means a separate contract with an approved dual system. Plan both. Packfiled sells neither.

In Seller Central, packaging EPR fields (often under Account Info / EPR Compliance — labels move) are where sellers paste the LUCID number. Amazon checks it; Packfiled does not submit it for you.

“Pay on Behalf” style marketplace options, where available, are the platform’s fallback when you have not supplied your own registration. Most sellers who stay in DE want their own number on file.

LUCID registration itself is free at the register when you are eligible to do it. Cost and stress usually sit in dual-system fees and — if you have no German establishment — an authorized representative. Full-service “Germany packaging handled” packages commonly land around €500–800+ once representative and scheme work are bundled. Packfiled is not that service.
